Founder and President Alexis Konopny started ABDT in 2021 after seeing the significant increase in individuals experiencing homelessness and the inequities experienced by individuals living within marginalized and vulnerable communities. She is passionate about increasing awareness about the social determinants of health and supporting individuals in marginalized and vulnerable communities. She does this through leading events and initiatives hosted by ABDT and through her research, which provides an opportunity for individuals in marginalized and vulnerable communities to share their lived experiences. She also has a passion for student mentorship and creating initiatives, providing an opportunity for students to get involved/volunteer as part of ABDT and make a difference in their community.Â
Vice President Amanda Jani co-founded ABDT in 2021 with the goal of raising awareness and mitigating the stigma surrounding the homelessness crisis in Canada. She is dedicated to leading initiatives aimed at addressing health disparities experienced by individuals from marginalized communities. Through her role in ABDT, she hopes to make a positive difference and improve mental health outcomes for these individuals.
